A single idea for sustainable change
Born from seeing the massive amounts of medical supply packaging going straight to the landfill, Trish Trash has made it our mission to maximize recycling efforts by building awareness and introducing monetary incentives to recycle. With a desire to reinvigorate and create new passions for recycling in communities across the country, Trish Trash plans to affect the state of recycling long into the future.
In order to spread awareness and educate our local communities about recycling, Trish Trash has attended and hosted a variety of different public events throughout SWFL. Trish Trash has attended the Fort Myers Art Walk, Naples Beer Festival, Punta Gorda Chili Fest, etc. Along with attending these events, Trish Trash hosted a series of Hurricane Ian Relief events in October, 2022.
With the deployment of our own app, Trish Trash has come up with a simple solution to providing rewards to its users. Working similarly to many other rewards systems in various other industries and businesses, Trish Trash poses the opportunity to offer rewards for uses recycling efforts.
Volunteering to raise awareness is the most important aspect of what we do. Having a non-profit sector, Trish Trash is able to issue community service hours and has been specifically been given the ability to issue Bright Futures credits throughout the state of Florida. With founder, Trish Barron, having worked in operating rooms around the country for over 25 years, Trish Trash recognizes the amount of recyclable materials found throughout the medical industry. Trish Trash currently picks up and sorts through these materials locally to ensure they are properly recycled. So far, Trish Trash has collected and recycled over 15 tons of medical device waste.
Trish Trash has been particularly successful with AAU by providing recycling services at tournaments throughout Florida. Providing youth teams with the opportunity to recycle along with the opportunity to earn community service hours at their sporting events, Trish Trash hopes to expand their reach of sporting events throughout all ages, divisions, and areas of the country.
Hoping to inspire bigger corporations to begin or improve their recycling efforts, Trish Trash hopes to create its own carbon bank. In the future, Trish Trash hopes to help partnering companies meet company and government goals surrounding carbon emissions.
